| 12 September 2002 | Cessation of Syndicate 37 and 2087 Ockham Personal Insurance Agency Ltd (OPIA) has notified the Council of Lloyd's of their intention to cease to accept new and renewal business on behalf of Syndicates 37 and 2037with effect from 31st December, 2002.
All new and renewal business will thereafter be written 100% by Highway Insurance Company Ltd. By way of compensation for the loss of their rights and interest in the goodwill associated with the Highway business, Ockham will be making a cash payment to each member of Syndicate 37 for the 2002 year of account of 7p for each £1 of Syndicate 30 capacity. The capacity of Syndicate 37 for the 2002 year of account is £7.4M representing only 3% of Highway's total 2002 capacity. The stamp capacity has dropped to this level from £63.2M (representing approximately 21% of Highway's capacity for 2001) at the end of last year, as a result of a large number of Names leaving the syndicate at a late stage.
| | 13 April 2001 | Underwriter leaves Highway Ockham Personal Insurance Agency Ltd (Ockham) has advised that Quin Lovis, the active underwriter of Syndicates 37 and 2037, has announced his intention to take early retirement when he turns 50 at the end of May 2001.
Ockham has confirmed that Quin Lovis will remain a Director of the Managing Agency in a non-executive capacity. He will also act as a consultant to the business and continue to chair the Highway Broker Club.
Andrew Gibson, Managing director of the Managing Agency, will be taking a more active role in the underwriting process, while David Murray, who is currently the Technical Underwriter for Highway and was previously the active underwriter of Syndicate 293, will be appointed, subject to Lloyd's approval, as the active underwriter of Syndicates 37 and 2037.
