20 January 1999Change of strategy for Venton
Venton's operation in Bermuda, Venton Insurance Limited (VIL) was established in autumn 1997 in order to write a worldwide book of business emanating from Bermuda. Following the purchase of Venton Holdings Limited by Underwriter's Reinsurance Company (URC) in October 1998, the plans for VIL have changed. Consequently, all business currently written by VIL has been novated to URC with effect from 30th December 1998. In parallel URC established Venton Underwriter's Bermuda (VUB), which will act as their agent.
James Winn, deputy to Rick Montgomerie on syndicate 376, will move to Bermuda in Spring 1999 subject to Bermudian authorities. Venton will advise us of any plans to replace him in due course.
