	27 April 2000	Octavian name change With effect from 20th April 2000 Octavian Syndicate Management Limited has changed its name to Markel Syndicate Management Limited. All correspondence details remain unchanged.
	11 February 2000	Octavian appoints new Active Underwriter and Run-off Manager The Board of Octavian Syndicate Management has announced that, subject to Lloyd's approval, Stephen Butler will be appointed Active Underwriter of Syndicate 1228 following the resignation of Peter Routledge. He will also be appointed to the board of Octavian Syndicate Management Ltd. Stephen Butler joined Octavian in 1975 and has been the Deputy Underwriter at Abbey Motor Syndicate 554 for the past six years. He joined Syndicate 1228 as General Manager during 1999. Octavian is also seeking consent, under both the Underwriting Agents Byelaw and Multiple Syndicate Byelaw, to appoint Stephen Butler as Run-Off Manager for Syndicate 554.
	02 December 1998	Octavian H.K. established Octavian Syndicate Management Limited has established Octavian Hong Kong Limited (OKHL), which will write marine, non-marine and motor business. OHKL has been set up to establish a presence in the Far East to represent the interests of Octavian syndicates.
